St. Lawrence University first-year defenseman Skylar Podvey has been named to the USCHO All-Rookie Team.
Podvey, who was also a member of ECAC Hockey’s All-Rookie Team, was the top-scoring rookie blueliner in the nation with 20 points on eight goals and 12 assists. She finished the season with a +15 plus/minus rating and was second on the team with a 13.8% shooting percentage. She blocked 24 shots and was whistled for just one penalty.
“Skylar didn’t take long to adjust to college hockey,” said Saints’ head coach Chris Wells ’92. “She made an instant impact to our D and our team. She reall embraced St. Lawrence and all that can be done here while being a college student. Each week she improved her play on the ice and became more confident at Appleton and in the classroom.”
St. Lawrence finished the season ranked eighth in the USCHO national poll. The Saints advanced to the ECAC Hockey semifinals for the third consecutive year after sweeping Quinnipiac in the quarterfinals.
